DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Lao Sze Chuan is once again welcoming diners in Downers Grove. The restaurant at 1331 Ogden Ave. recently reopened following an extended closure after a car crashed into the building.
Initially, Lao Sze Chuan had planned to reopen in October 2025, after their liquor license was approved by the village's liquor commission.
Diners packed the restaurant this weekend amid the reopening, according to a post on the My Downers Grove Facebook group.
Residents took to the comments section to express their excitement and rave about the restaurant. Julie B. wrote, "Went last night to a packed crowd! Delicious as always and so glad they are back open!"
Joe P. called it the "[B]est Chinese in the the southwest suburbs."
Established in 1998, Lao Sze Chuan specializes on authentic Chinese food. They also have locations in Chicago.
