Upon her arrival to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, Dr. LaReau spent nearly an hour talking with her and her daughter about her treatment options.  He cautioned his patient, telling her how difficult the procedure would be, especially at her age.

Dr. LaReau successfully performed surgery that lasted more than seven hours.  Afterward, he called the critical care unit every day to check on her, even on those days when he was not on call.

Shortly, thereafter, the patient was admitted to Good Samaritan Hospital for a different treatment.  Dr. LaReau saw her name on the roster and went to her room to visit.
