Angry Driver Batters Wrong People After Road Rage Incident: PD

Police say the motorcyclist followed a driver home, but threatened his neighbors instead.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Police in Downers Grove are investigating an apparent road rage incident in which a motorcycle rider and his passenger allegedly followed another driver home, but then shoved and threatened his neighbors in a case of mistaken identity. Police said the incident took place Sunday evening in the 1700 block of Breasted Avenue, after the biker accused the driver of cutting him off, according to a police summary.

The driver called police when he heard yelling outside his house and said the motorcycle had followed him home and its rider was outside yelling at his neighbors instead of him. When police got to the scene, the angry biker and his female passenger had left.

One of the neighbors told police that the motorcyclist had driven up to her home and the female passenger got off the bike and yelled, "You cut me off." The suspect then allegedly began to push the neighbor into her garage.

The neighbor's husband then came to try to intervene, but the motorcycle rider got off the bike and pushed the husband and wife, police say. Before fleeing, the motorcyclist and passenger allegedly threatened the neighbors by saying they would be back.

The driver told police that he had been heading southbound on Main Street when he turned right onto 63rd. He told police he had seen the motorcycle heading west on 63rd, but thought it was a good enough distance away for him to turn. The biker then allegedly gave the driver the middle finger and turned around to follow them home before arriving at the wrong address.
