Delayed Arraignment For Man Accused Of Downers Grove Mom's Murder

The family of a Naperville man accused of killing his mother has made arrangements to get him a private attorney.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — The arraignment for a Naperville man accused of stabbing his mother to death in Downers Grove has been pushed back. Kevin D. James, 23, of Naperville will be represented by a private attorney retained by his family instead of a public defender, according to Chicago Tribune.

The arraignment, which was originally scheduled for Friday, will now take place on March 2.

James was arrested on Jan. 9 after his sister called to report that he had stabbed their mother with a kitchen knife, according to police. Police got to the home in the 2100 block of 63rd St. to find Patricia James, 51, unresponsive. Police say she was covered in blood and had sustained multiple stab woulds.

Police found James still at the scene and took him into custody. He later told investigators he was trying to save his mom from green dinosaurs and demons he saw surrounding her.

James has been held in DuPage County Jail since the alleged murder.
