Audio Up & Dennis Quaid debut The Pet Show

Available now through all podcast platforms. Pet focused podcast will explore emerging pet culture, personalities, style, nutrition and care.

LOS ANGELES, CA (July 14, 2020) – Audio Up is pleased to announce a brand-new podcast series that focuses on pets, and promises to be un-furrgetable. The Pet Show, executive produced and co-hosted by Dennis Quaid, with acclaimed writer and journalist Jimmy Jellinek, focuses on a new and emerging pet culture. Launching today via all podcast platforms, the first two episodes take a deep dive into the brave new world of pet influencers, as well as an interesting study that found how men with cats are considered less dateable on Tindr. Listen to the first episode HERE.

The show aims to report “at the intersection of social media and pet culture,” says Jellinek, the show’s creator and co-host. “How this world manifests in culture, from the content that’s created on of all these new platforms, to the personalities that have emerged, along with its memes and new pet brands, is what we’re looking to explore. But ultimately we just want to entertain and tell good stories.”

The Pet Show will drop episodes twice a week, the first tackling more human interest storylines, while the second will feature an array of guest interviews, including Hollywood Medium Tyler Henry, who will connect deceased pets with their celebrity owners. Additionally, the show will feature discussions with notable cultural figures and celebrities about their pets. The show is also currently producing several one-off series specials that focus on stories about pets that have had an impact on history. The first, “Acoustic Kitty,” is currently in production. “It’s the insane, true story of how, in the 1960’s, the CIA attempted to train cats for espionage work,” explained Jellinek. “We tell the whole story for the first time and talk to the agent who was in charge of the mission along with the trainer who made it all happen. It’s like Argo with cats!” In addition to the amazing reportage, The Pet Show also aims to focus on the latest in pet care, brands, pet style and nutrition.

“I’ve been part of the pet world for most of my life,” says Dennis Quaid, who co-hosts the show alongside his beloved dog Peaches. “With A Dog’s Purpose and its sequel A Dog’s Journey, I’ve seen first-hand the role pets play in people’s lives. This show is a natural extension of everything that I love.” In future episodes he’ll talk to “A Dog’s Journey,” author W. David Cameron and a host of other notables in the pet world.

“This show is at the cornerstone of what we do best at Audio Up,” says CEO Jared Gutstadt. “There is something for everyone here, entertainment, education and great, great stories and reporting. There’s really nothing else out there like this. It’s almost like 60 minutes for Pets”
