Aurora Man Plowed Car Into Vehicles During Road Rage Incident: Police

Thomas Jeffries, 39, of Aurora allegedly drove his car into another vehicle, causing a second crash and multiple injuries.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Illinois State Police arrested an Aurora man nearly two months after he allegedly slammed his car into another vehicle during a road rage incident. Thomas Jeffries, 39, of Aurora, is accused of plowing into one car and forcing it to collide with another. The August 4 incident caused damage so severe that emergency crews used the jaws of life to rescue the second driver.

Police say Jeffries and the other drivers were heading eastbound on I-88 near Midwest Road at about 11:45 a.m. when Jeffries and a second driver started an altercation. Jeffries then allegedly accelerated and slammed his 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee into the other car. That driver then crashed into a third car. The second driver sustained multiple injuries, including a broken back that later required surgery.

Jeffries then allegedly sped off without notifying police and then falsely reported his vehicle damage as having taken place in Chicago. He has been charged with aggravated reckless driving involving great bodily harm and aggravated assault with a vehicle.
