Boba With Cloud Foam, Layered Soft Serve, PBJ Lattes: Candy Cloud Now Open In Downers Grove

The specialty drink cafe opened June 17 at 1101 Ogden Ave.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Just days before the official start of summer, Candy Cloud opened in Downers Grove, bringing a refreshing selection of specialty drinks that includes locally roasted coffee boba tea, layered soft serve ice cream, fresh-squeezed lemonade and brightly colored energy drinks.

Located at 1101 Ogden Ave., the shop also serves light bites, sandwiches and dessert items.

The drinks at Candy Cloud come served in clear cups that look like tall cans. The clear exterior shows off each drink's unique aesthetic.

There's the ombre purple of the butterfly lavender lemonade, the sky blue of the cotton candy milkshake, the green, red and white layers of the strawberry matcha.

At Candy Cloud, the coffees are made with beans from the Rockford-based Fire Dept. Coffee.

Drinks can be tweaked with add-ins that include boba, drizzles and a cloud foam flavored with vanilla, cookie butter, chocolate or sweet cream.

Milkshakes and layered soft serve can be zhuzhed up with fruity cereal, Oreos, bits of cake, strawberry crunch and other goodies.

Candy Cloud has more than a dozen locations in the midwest, Tennessee, Florida and Texas. Their Illinois stores include sots in Rockford, Glenview, Oswego and South Elgin.

The Downers Grove location has a drive-thru window, indoor seating and an outdoor dining area. The store is open Sunday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
