Bounding Main Headlines Concert at Downers Grove Public Library

On Sun., Sept. 16, In partnership with the Downers Grove Music Club, this a cappella quintet will perform traditional maritime songs.

Bounding Main will perform beautiful harmonic versions of traditional maritime songs, dressed in full Elizabethan sea dog garb, at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 16 at the Downers Grove Public Library. This a cappella quintet performs rich arrangements of traditional nautical music, to bring you into a world of fellowship, adventure, and romance. This popular ensemble has performed throughout the United States and Europe.

The group notes on their website that the Downers Grove Public Library was founded in 1891 "when sailing ships were giving way to steam powered vessels, sea shanties, as active work tools, were fading, but fascination by the common people for sailors and pirates and their worlds was being dramatized in music and theater. Maritime music is still very much alive today as tall ships still sail the world round."

This performance is free and open to the public. Please register at dglibrary.org/events.
