Mary Ellen Young, a respected leader in our community

I am writing to encourage your support for Mary Ellen Young’s candidacy for the DuPage Regional Board of School Trustees.  Mary Ellen has served on this Board for the past two years and brings thoughtfulness, impartiality and dedication to this position.

In addition to her service on the Regional Board of Trustees, Mary Ellen served as a member of the District 58 School Board for eight years (2001-2009), and is the co-founder of Helping Girls Navigate Adolescence (HGNA), a non-profit, all-volunteer organization which has provided educational and supportive programs to thousands of girls and parents in our community over the past eight years.  Mary Ellen continues to devote hundreds of hours to HGNA each year, even though her two daughters are grown and away at college.

Mary Ellen is the embodiment of a public servant and a candidate who will bring what we hope all of our elected officials will bring to their position — the willingness to serve fairly and impartially, with a passion for our community and our community’s children – not just her own neighborhood or her own children.
