Burglar Smashes Car Window At Memorial Park In Downers Grove

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Police in Downers Grove are investigating an incident in which someone smashed a car's window and stole a purse and several personal documents at Memorial Park. The victim told police the incident took place Tuesday while she was watching her son play baseball at the park.

According to police, the victim left her car around 1:30 p.m. and returned around 5:30 p.m. When she returned to her vehicle, she found the rear passenger window shattered. Police say the suspect or suspects stole a black purse that was inside the car.

The victim told police there were no cars next to her when she parked and that she locked her car door before leaving.

Police say the purse contained a checkbook and a wallet with a drivers license and miscellaneous credit cards.
