Burglar Steals $43K In Jewelry From Home In Downers Grove: Cops
The burglar forced their way in through the front door.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A home in Downers Grove was burglarized Tuesday and more than $43,000 in jewelry and valuables was stolen. Police say the burglar apparently forced their way into an apartment in the 4900 block of Forest Ave. and stole a tennis bracelet, an engagement ring, and other items sometime between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. while the resident was away.
The victim told police that their front door had been locked when they left the apartment and that they had no idea who could have committed the crime as the building is "extremely quiet." Police reported signs of forced entry the apartment door, but saw no signs of damage on other doors on the same floor.
According to the victim, the suspect stole a diamond engagement ring worth $15,000, a silver Oneida place setting worth $7,000, a diamond tennis bracelet worth $8,500, a gold bracelet worth $5,000, a gold charm bracelet worth $2,000, a string of pearls, and several other valuables.
