Police say two residents reported that someone had attempted to pry open their front door.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Police responded to two reports that a suspect or suspects tried to pry open the front door of two homes in Downers Grove. The incidents took place between Dec. 9 and Dec. 10, according to a police summary.
Sometime between late Dec. 9 and early Dec. 10, police responded to an attempted burglary report at an apartment home in the 500 block of 75th St. The victim told police she returned home from shopping and turned the handle on her door when it fell off in her hand. When police investigated the incident, they found the door was still secured, despite the broken handle. Officers also noticed dents and scratches near the handle of the door, but it appeared the suspect(s) were unable to gain entry.
On Dec. 9, a resident in the 1000 block of 61st St. told police that she noticed the dead bolt on her door had been damaged. Police say there was a 1/2" gap between the dead bolt and the door. During an investigation, police did not observe any evidence of an attempt to pry open the door, but the resident told police she wanted the incident documented.
