Burglars Raid Downers Grove Home While Owner Distracted: Police

DOWNERS GROVE, IL --- A Downers Grove woman discovered two men upstairs burglarizing her home while she was distracted by a third suspect posing as a repairman. The incident took place on Nov. 23 in the 1200 block of Drove Ave.

The victim told police that she was outside working in her yard when she was approached by a man who told her he was working on her neighbor's home and needed to find the location of her property line. Police say the woman suspected something after the man asked her to walk around the back of her home.

Instead, the woman walked toward the front of her home, where she discovered a white four-door car with three men inside. Shortly after, police say the victim said goodbye to the first suspect and went into her home.

Once inside, the woman reportedly heard sounds coming from upstairs. Two men, who told her they had been looking for her husband, then came downstairs and exited the home.

After calling police, the victim discovered that the following items were missing:

• Diamond pinkie ring
• Gold wedding band with diamonds
• 2 gold wedding rings with diamonds
• Pearl ring
