Burglars Smash Car Into Business, Steal Saws: Downers Grove Cops

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Police in Downers Grove are investigating an incident in which someone apparently drove into the garage door of a business and stole several concrete saws. The burglary took place on Jan. 10 at Swallow Sewer and Water, 4250 Lacey Rd.

When police arrived at the scene, an employee told them the burglary had happened sometime overnight. The employee said they got to work at 5 a.m. and saw that the overhead garage door had been damaged as thought someone smashed into it with a car to create an opening.

Police say "several 16" Stihl concrete saws" were missing from inside the business. The total damage was estimated at $1,000 and the total property loss was estimated at $1,500, according to a police summary.
