Burglars Steal $10K In Phones From Sprint Store In Downers Grove

DOWNERS GROVE, IL --- More than $10,000 worth of cellphones were stolen from a Sprint store in Downers Grove during a burglary that took place late Nov. 1. Police say the burglar(s) used a landscaping brick to smash the window of the store, which is located at 504 Ogden Ave.

According to police, a burglary alarm went off around 11:08 p.m., which alerted management and law enforcement to the break-in.

When police got to the scene they say they set up a perimeter and checked the inside of the store to see if any suspects were still present. Police did not locate any suspects, but discovered that "almost all the display phones were missing" from the store.

The total loss was estimated at $10,654.

The Sprint store burglary comes after similar phone store burglaries were reported in Glen Ellyn and Westmont. In each instance, the suspect or suspects break into the store and steal thousands of dollars in cellphones and other electronics.
