Volunteers are needed to help collect signatures of registered voters in the township at various locations and times on July 4th. The signatures are needed to get a 708 Mental Health Board Referendum on the November 2026 ballot. When the Referendum is passed, it would set up a fund specifically to provide mental health services to Downers Grove Township Residents as a Supplement to Existing Community funds for community services. The 20th annual Downers Grove Garden Walk will be held on Saturday, July 11th, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM. The Garden Walk provides an opportunity to view some of the most beautiful gardens in the area and is also a fundraiser that supports the work of Downers Grove First United Methodist Church (DGFUMC) Bridge Board in providing transitional housing and mentoring for previously homeless families. The Bridge Board at DGFUMC is a program partner with Bridge Communities, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Bridge Communities’ focus is to transform the lives of homeless DuPage County families by guiding them to a better future. This is accomplished by providing housing, mentoring, direction, hope, encouragement, and a stable environment in which families can become self-sufficient and sustain their independence. The cost to support each family is around $15,000 annually, and each family is mentored for 2 years. The Garden Walk is the main fundraiser for these efforts, and 100% of the proceeds go to supporting the families. Tickets for the 2026 Garden Walk are $20.00 in advance and will be available in mid-June at the following locations: ● Anderson’s Bookshop, 5112 Main St., Downers Grove ● Community Bank of Downers Grove, 1111 Warren Ave. ● Phillip’s Flowers &amp; Gifts, 528 N. Cass Ave., Westmont● The Growing Place, 25W471 Plank Rd., Naperville ● Online (electronic tickets) at dgfumc.org/give. Tickets may also be purchased on the day of the Garden Walk (July 11) for $25 at any of the gardens or in the DGFUMC Parking Lot from 9:00-11:30 AM. If you are unable to attend and/or wish to contribute to this worthy cause, you can make a donation at dgfumc.org/give. Sanctuary in Trauma is excited to announce the opening of its first physical office in the Lisle Town Centre and invites the community to celebrate at an Open House on Saturday, July 18, from 1-3 pm at 1111 Burlington Avenue, Lisle, IL, Suite 110. Sanctuary in Trauma is a Christ-centered nonprofit ministry dedicated to walking alongside women who have experienced trauma, loss, and hardship. Through Biblical teaching, practical tools, support groups, and leader training, the ministry equips churches and communities to offer hope and healing rooted in the truth of Scripture.After years of serving women from homes, coffee shops, churches, and borrowed meeting spaces, this new office marks an important milestone in the ministry's continued growth. The space will provide a welcoming environment for meetings, volunteer collaboration, leadership training, and ministry operations as Sanctuary in Trauma expands its reach. "We are incredibly grateful for God's faithfulness in providing this space," said Executive Director Dana Kemp. "This office represents more than four walls—it is a reminder of the many people who have prayed, volunteered, given generously, and come alongside this ministry so that more women can experience hope in Christ.
