Car, Over $40K In Jewelry Stolen In Downers Grove Burglaries

Police did not say whether the burglaries appear to have been related.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL --- Two homes were burglarized in Downers Grove over the weekend, according to a police report. The first incident took place Saturday in the 3800 block of Belle Aire Drive and the second took place Sunday in the 4900 block of Douglas Road. Police say jewelry, a car, and other items were stole during the burglaries.

According to police, a resident in the 3800 block of Belle Aire came home from shopping and eating Saturday to discover that the suspect or suspects had removed the screen to their kitchen window to gain entry to the home. Once inside, the burglar(s) ransacked the home and took several items of jewelry, including an engagement ring valued at $15,000, a Rolex watch valued at $10,000, and an Omega watch valued at $8,000. The total loss was valued at more than $46,000.

On Sunday, a home in the 4900 block of Douglas Road was burglarized sometime between 4 p.m. and 4:43 pm. The victim told police that they came home to find that their front door had been opened by force. The burglar(s) stole two sets of car keys, an iPass and a Pontiac Vibe valued at $7,000.
