Carts For New Refuse, Recycling Program To Start Arriving In Downers Grove

Residents will start receiving their carts for the village's new trash and recycling program on March 23.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Cart delivery is set to begin March 23 for the village's new refuse and recycling program, which goes into effect April 1.

Republic Services will deliver the carts between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. Monday through Friday through April 2. The village notes that it's possible a Saturday delivery may take place.

The deliveries are based on each resident's trash collection day. Those who have trash pickup on Wednesday will get their carts first. It's expected that the carts will be delivered before your first collection day under the new program.

Once the deliveries start for your collection area, it may take up to two days for the cart to arrive, the village noted in an update.

In the new Republic Services program, stickers are only necessary for extra items that customers can't fit into their cart, along with white goods and bulk items that exceed the two-item weekly allowance. As of April 1, the price will be $3.50 per sticker.

Included at no additional charge are recycling and yard waste collection, along with a options for a cart for organic items and a winter organics collection. Residents also have an option to suspend their trash pickup.
