Chicago Cares To Host Food, Supply Drive In Downers Grove

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Chicago Cares will host a supply drive Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Downers Grove. The supply drive will be held in the parking lot of Chase Bank at 1200 Ogden Ave.

Proceeds from the supply drive will go to helping "neighborhoods where basic necessities are currently not accessible due to store closures and inventory shortfalls" due to the new coronavirus crisis, according to a press release.

The following items are being requested as donations:

• Non-perishable grocery items, packaged and canned meals, staples and drinking water
• Diapers, baby wipes, formula, baby food, distilled water and powdered milk
• Household and hygiene products, including hand and body soap, sanitary pads, toilet
  paper, facial tissue, dish soap, laundry detergent, dryer sheets and box fans
• First Aid and PPE items, including 70 percent isopropyl alcohol, face masks, hand sanitizer, and gloves, first aid kits, bandages, tape and Band-Aids
• Clean-up supplies, including garbage bags, push brooms, cleaning solvents, Magic Erasers, rags and sponges

Chicago Cares CEO Jenné Myers said in a statement, "Chicago Cares has always believed that volunteers can contribute to a more vibrant and equitable future for our city. This week, when our city and our neighborhoods need us to show up in support, we are proud to serve side-by-side with our nonprofit partners as we begin to rebuild and heal together."
