Community Art Project at Downers Grove Public Library Sept. 17

Contribute to Visual Ensembles, a collaborative sculpture in honor of Banned Books Week with partner The Art Department.

Create a piece of infinite sculpture celebrating the theme of Banned Books Week—Banning

Books Silences Stories. Artists of any age are invited to be a part of this memorable community

event on the following days in the library’s lobby:

• Mon., Sept. 17, 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.

• Sun., Sept. 23, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

The Art Department, local artists dedicated to making Downers Grove a welcoming

community for artists, will supply wooden blocks, pastels, colored pencils, glue, string, book

pages, and illustrations for creating the individual blocks that will come together as the final

sculpture.

The art piece will be on display as part of Visual Ensembles, an event to be held Friday,

October 19 through Sunday, October 21 at The TreeHouse, 5021 Fairview Ave., 2nd Floor, in

Downers Grove, featuring completed works of other area artists who have collaborated for this
