"Current water conditions within the storm sewer make further search efforts extremely dangerous. The search efforts will resume when the water conditions within the sewer improve to a safe condition," the village said in its update.
Downers Grove police say the incident took place amid severe storms around 1 p.m. Monday. The search began after police officers were flagged down by workers who reported that two colleagues were trapped in the storm sewer beneath the street.
