Cops Shoot, Kill Armed Thief In Glendale Heights: Report
Police say he came towards them while holding a knife.
GLENDALE HEIGHTS, IL -- A man who stole a car at knifepoint from the parking lot of a Bloomingdale Walmart was shot dead by Bloomingdale police after they say he threatened them with the knife, Daily Herald reports. The incident started around 7:19 p.m. Friday evening and ended after police followed the man into a Glendale Heights neighborhood.
Police say the man stole a woman's car at knifepoint and then headed toward Army Trail Road. From there, he reportedly made his way into Glendale Heights before getting out of the car near the intersection of Chippendale Lane and Mill Pond Drive in Glendale Heights.
According to Daily Herald, the armed man ignored commands from police and instead "brandished the knife and moved rapidly towards them."

Police say they fired on the man and immediately administered first aid. When emergency responders got to the scene, they pronounced the man dead.
The incident is currently under investigation by the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office and the DuPage County Major Crimes Task Force.
