DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Downers Grove Police charged a couple with retail theft after they were allegedly caught stashing stolen items in a baby stroller at Kohls. Jose Pita, 29, and Paola Mazon, 30, both of Worth, had two small children with them when they allegedly filled the stroller with clothes, cosmetics, jewelry, and holiday decorations on Nov. 16 before leaving the store at 2900 S. Finley St. without paying.
According to a police report, Pita and Mazon were caught on camera leaving with the full stroller covered with a blanket and their two children in tow. A Kohls Loss Prevention employee told police the pair was recently spotted in the store stuffing items in to a diaper bag in a similar incident that could not be confirmed.
Police arranged for the Mazon and Pita to find accommodations for their children, according to the report. The parents later turned themselves in and were each charged with one count of retail theft over $300.
