Deadline Approaches For Trash Sticker Users To Sign Up For Carts In Downers Grove

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Downers Grove residents who have traditionally used stickers for their individual trash items have until Feb. 14 to sign up for a cart with Republic Services. The shift comes as the village is set to begin a new waste and recycling program with Republic Services April 1.

Residents who already use cart service won't need ot make any changes unless they want to switch to a different cart program. To switch cart service, call 630-964-3232.

Republic Services will bill customers quarterly. Below, you can find the monthly standard and senior pricing for carts, effective April 1, 2026, through March 31, 2027. To register for the senior program, residents 65 and older can email senior@republicservices.com or head to the Downers Grove Civic Center's finance window at 850 Curtiss St.

In the new Republic Services program, stickers are only necessary for extra items that customers can't fit into their cart, along with white goods and bulk items that exceed the two-item weekly allowance. As of April 1, the price will be $3.50 per sticker.

Included at no additional charge are recycling and yard waste collection, along with a options for a cart for organic items and a winter organics collection. Residents also have an option to suspend their trash pickup.
