DG5Miler Returns for 38th year
A Downers Grove tradition, the DG5Miler race, is returning for its 38th year on June 28, 7:30am, starting at the Lincoln Center.

An estimated 500 runners will take part in this year’s five mile race, which has earned a reputation as one of the fastest five mile races in the region. In 2014, the overall male winner, James Akita, ran the route at a blistering 5:15 per mile pace to finish with a 26:13 time.
This year the USATF certified race is once again part of the Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA) Runners Choice Circuit – which offers elite runners the chance to earn points for a season-long contest. The 5 Miler is now also a CARA Green Certified Race due to its eco-friendly initiatives, which include a running shoe recycling drop off point- available on race day only.
Pre-registration for the DG 5Miler will end on June 23 at 4pm. To register visit the Lincoln Center, 935 Maple Avenue, the Downers Grove Recreation Center, 4500 Belmont Rd, or register online at dgparks.org/5miler. Registration will also be available on race day, from 6-7am.
