District 58 Moves Closer To Sharing Space With Village: Report
On Monday, district officials approved key terms of an agreement to share a new facility with the village and police department.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Downers Grove village officials and board members from Downers Grove Grade School District 58 recently took steps toward their goal of sharing a new administrative facility, Daily Herald reports.
District board members approved key terms of the agreement Monday.
The proposed development would consolidate the school district's administrative offices with the Downers Grove police station and village hall. The new shared facility may also include an 85-unit apartment building, the property taxes for which will help pay off construction costs, which are estimated at up to $53.8 million.

The village, which would design, build and own the building, is proposing a 50-year lease to District 58. Each entity would occupy its own space, along with shared spaces that would include conference rooms and council chambers.
If the proposal moves forward, construction may start as early as summer 2022.
