Downers Grove Junior Woman's Club Announces $10,000 Grant
The new funding aims to benefit local charities.

The Downers Grove Junior Woman’s Club announced today that it is making available grant funding of up to $10,000 in support of local charity projects.
The funds are targeted towards local Not-For-Profits throughout Downers Grove and the broader DuPage County community who demonstrate a need for a project or service not readily available elsewhere.

Applications for the grant funding are currently being accepted.
“On the heels of our 5th annual Charity Golf Outing and in celebration of 55 years of the DGJWC, we want to take this opportunity to make a significant impact for a deserving charity,” said Laura Hill, DGJWC President. “We encourage local charities throughout Downers Grove and the broader DuPage County community to submit applications for review.”

Grant applications are available for download beginning June 30. The application deadline is Friday, August 7.
Three finalists will be selected and asked to present at the DGJWC General Meeting on August 18. Following the presentation, the DGJWC membership will vote and award the $10,000 grant funds. The grant application can be found on the Downers Grove Junior Woman’s Club website www.dgjwc.org. Eligibility requirements are as follows:
- Non-profit status under the Internal Revenue Service code
- Summary of the target population benefiting from the grant
- Description of the product or service and details for how grant funds will be used
- Explanation of plan to effectively execute the project
- Proof of organizational structure and description of responsible financial management /policies
- Outline of plan for project evaluation with outcome measurements
Applicants will also be judged on a variety of criteria including the relativity of the project to the mission of the Downers Grove Junior Woman’s Club, which is, service towards women, children and/or families in need within the community. Other considerations for award include, but are not limited to, the applicant organization’s ability to partner with the Downers Grove Junior Woman’s Club on potential hands-on projects, the location of the organization, the longevity of the organization, and testimonial(s) from clients or beneficiaries of the organization’s service efforts.
“We are thrilled to support these local charities and ultimately the clients who they serve,” says Laura Hill. “The DGJWC is motivated to do even more for the community this 2015/2016 season. Our club has recently tripled our membership and significantly increased our fundraising efforts, and we hope the positive trajectory continues.”
