Ex-Teacher Sentenced For Criminal Sexual Assault In Roselle

Police say he had a sexual relationship with a minor while teaching in Roselle.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A Downers Grove man has been sentenced to eight years in prison for allegedly having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a minor while teaching in Roselle. Jared Wissmiller, 28, pleaded guilty Wednesday to a felony count of criminal sexual assault as part of a plea deal in connection with the 2016 incident.

Police say Wissmiller "engaged in inappropriate sexual behavior" with a minor during his time as a coach and teacher at Lake Park High School. The criminal sexual assault took place multiple times between June and September 2016, police said.

After the sentencing, DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said, "This morning, Jared Wissmiller admitted that he used his position as a teacher to take advantage of a young girl solely to satisfy his sick sexual desires."
