Downers Grove Native Named Salutatorian for Benet Academy Class of 2015

Sean Harnik of Downers Grove earned the position of salutatorian for the Benet Academy Class of 2015.

Harnik attained this recognition by sustaining a cumulative, weighted grade point average of more than 99 percent during his previous seven semesters at Benet.

Sean has been an active participant in a variety of extracurricular organizations, including being a member of the boys cross country, swimming, and track teams. He was recently honored as a 2014 – 2015 East Suburban Catholic Conference Scholar / Athlete and also recognized as this year’s recipient of the Brad Webb Scholar / Athlete Award at Benet.

Additionally, he has been named an Illinois State Scholar and a National Merit Finalist, having scored a perfect 36 on his ACT. He also received departmental scholarship awards for Classical and World Languages, English, Mathematics, Religion, Science and Social Studies.

Next year he will be attending the University of Miami in Florida and majoring in the Biological Sciences.

Harnik attended St. Joseph School in Downers Grove and is a parishioner at St. Joseph Parish.

Matthew Zdun of Tinley Park was named the Class of 2015 valedictorian.
