Downers Grove Package Thief Caught On Doorbell Camera: Police

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A resident who lives in unincorporated Downers Grove is hoping his security footage will help police catch a thief who stole multiple packages from their front porch. The resident, who lives near the intersection of Maple Avenue and Belmont Road, told Patch that the items were stolen around 6 p.m. last Tuesday.

The resident told Patch they were home but unaware that someone was on their porch because the man pictured in the video did not actually knock on the door. After the man "knocks," he can be seen tossing a towel over packages on the porch.

The man then removes the packages and leaves.

A spokesperson for the DuPage County Sheriff's Office confirmed that packages were reported stolen from a home in the 2000 block of 59th Street. Police say the homeowner alerted them after realizing neither their husband nor their nanny had retrieved the packages.
