Downers Grove Police Warn Residents Of Spike In Home Burglaries
Downers Grove Police say three burglaries took place in the same area since Nov. 1.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — After a sudden surge in home burglaries, Downers Grove Police have issued a warning to residents to help prevent break-ins. The suspect(s) have used pry tools to open windows or locked doors. In one instance, burglars ransacked a home while the owners were at their daughter's wedding.
Police say that since Nov. 1, three burglaries were concentrated in the area south of 63rd Ave., north of 75th Ave., east of Fairmount, and west of Fairview.
Downers Grove Police urge residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activity. They say residents should call 911 if they:

- See unfamiliar people between homes
- Notice unfamiliar people knockingn on doors and then heading to the back of a home
- Hear unusual dog barking
- Spot unfamiliar or suspicious vehicles
They've also offered tips for residents to help prevent home burglaries:
- Lock windows and doors at all times, especially when you leave home.
- Use alarm systems at night and when leaving the house.
- Talk to neighbors and communicate about anything suspicious you see.
- Never enter a home you think has been burglarized before calling 911.
