Downers Grove Voters Warned Of Mailer From Fake Democratic Group
Officials from the Downers Grove Township Democratic Organizations called the mailer a "'dirty tricks' piece."
DOWNERS GROVE, IL -- As the 2019 Downers Grove municipal election approaches, the Downers Grove Township Democratic Organization (DGTDO) is warning voters about a mailer that they are calling a "professional 'dirty tricks' piece" sent by a fake Democratic Group to smear mayoral candidate Bob Barnett. In a news release, DGTDO says the mailer, which came from a Bedford Park address, is "filled with lies, misrepresentations, and inaccuracies" and "was not put out by local Democrats."
In a statement, DGTDO Chair Kim Savage suggested the mailer may have been sent by opposing party members. Savage said, “During every municipal election, local Republican groups send out negative mailings or literature pieces to Democrats trying to convince you to vote for or not vote for a particular candidate."
Savage was backed up by DGTDO Vice Chair Greg Hose. Hose said he believes "other candidates are scared of the bi-partisan coalition Bob Barnett has built with his common-sense approach and commitments to inclusiveness and fiscal responsibility and will do anything to try and stop him."
