Downers Grove Woman Overdoses On I-294; State Troopers Come to Rescue
A Downers Grove woman overdosed while driving on I-294 near 75th street. When state troopers arrived on the scene, she was nearly lifeless.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A 41-year-old Downers Grove woman was rescued by state troopers after overdosing while driving on I-294 Sunday night, according to WGN.
State Trooper Raymond Kurut approached the woman’s vehicle, which was disabled near the 75th Street exit. The woman was “barely breathing" when Kurut arrived on the scene, WGN said, and she had “bluish-grey skin" and other telltale signs of an opiate overdose.
The woman's pulse increased, but her breathing did not improve much after Kurut administered a first dose of Narcan, a drug that can reverse opioid overdoses. A second State Trooper, Matthew Dumais, administered a second dose, and she received two more doses on the way to an area hospital, according to WGN.

"Without a doubt, she's alive today because of the Narcan we administered to her," Kurut told WGN.
Charges against the woman are pending.
