The layoffs come right before the start of the holiday season.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL --- Dozens of employees have been laid off from the Pepperidge Farm branch in Downers Grove after the company announced it was planning to downsize. The branch, which handles baking, will stay open despite the layoffs, a Pepperidge Farm spokesperson told Sun-Times.

The layoffs come right before the holiday season but Pepperidge Farm officials said compensation packages and other resources will be made available to impacted employees. Just under 200 workers will remain at the Downers Grove location.
