DuPage County Coronavirus Cases Top 5,200 With 269 Deaths

DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — As of Wednesday, the DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) reports 5,234 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus and 269 deaths. The numbers include 117 new cases since Tuesday. County officials say the number of positive cases is "likely much higher" due to cases that are "unreported or untested."

County health officials said 10 coronavirus-related deaths were reported since Tuesday. The DCHD did not include information about where those who died had been living or whether they had underlying conditions. They are:

  • Two men in their 60s
  • A woman in her 70s
  • A man in his 70s
  • Four women in their 80s
  • A woman in her 90s
  • A man in his 90s

The news comes as cases in Illinois reach 84,698. The statewide death toll from coronavirus was at 3,792 as of Wednesday, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

The DuPage County Coroner's Office directed Patch to the DuPage County Health Department for a breakdown of deaths by city, but the health department said it is not releasing that information as of press time.

According to the county's breakdown, the majority of cases have affected those between the ages of 40 and 70, but all age ranges had confirmed cases. Here is the age breakdown as of Wednesday evening.

  • 0-9 years old: 67
  • 10-19 years old: 160
  • 20-29 years old: 693
  • 30-39 years old: 817
  • 40-49 years old: 876
  • 50-59 years old: 903
  • 60-69 years old: 707
  • 70-79 years old: 424
  • 80 years old and older: 587
