DuPage County Holds 28th Annual MLK Day Celebration
DuPage County's 28th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration will take place Jan. 15 at 6:30 p.m. in Wheaton.

WHEATON, IL — For nearly three decades, DuPage County has held an event to celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This year, the 28th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration will honor Dr. King's memory on Jan. 15 at 6:30 p.m. at Gary United Methodist Church, 224 N. Main St.
This year, the celebration will feature Dr. Ruth Lewis Bentley as the event's keynote speaker. Dr. Bentley serves as the administrative executive director and treasurer for the National Black Evangelical Association (NBEA). With colleagues in Zambia and Kenya, she founded the International Christian Coalition for AIDS Reversal and Education (ICCARE).
According to its website, the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration's stated mission is "To bring the DuPage County community together to celebrate the life, legacy and words of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by remembering his leadership in social justice, his compassion and commitment to equality, his courage to do the right thing, and his respect for racial, cultural, ethnic and religious diversity and gender equality, so that all might be inspired to strive for the fulfillment of Dr. King’s dream."
