Emergency Room Fight: Downers Grove Man Accused Of Punching Nurse

The 54-year-old was charged with aggravated battery and reckless conduct.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — A 54-year-old Downers Grove man was arrested Sunday night after allegedly punching a nurse in the emergency room at Amita Health Adventist Medical Center, Bolingbrook police said. Officers responded to the hospital, 500 Remington Boulevard, for a report of a fight in the emergency room just after 8 p.m., according to police.

Richard Ginger, of 2287 Country Club Drive, allegedly hit a nurse with a closed fist before officers arrived, Bolingbrook Lt. Anthony Columbus said. When cops did arrive, "Ginger was still combative and had to be restrained by officers and security," according to Columbus.

Ginger was taken into custody on charges of aggravated battery and reckless conduct.

He appeared in court Monday, and his bond was set at $25,000, meaning he would need to be $2,500 to be released. Ginger remained in custody as of Tuesday morning, according to Will County jail records.
