JoAnn Deak, Ph.D., an internationally acclaimed speaker, psychologist and best-selling author, will discuss “Girls and Boys: Different from the Neck Up!” from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 5 at the Downers Grove Public Library, 1050 Curtiss Street.
Hosted by Helping Girls Navigate Adolescence, Inc., (HGNA), the event will include a light breakfast at 9:15 a.m. and a book-signing following Dr. Deak’s presentation. Admission is free, but seating is limited. Reservations are recommended by emailing info@hgna.org.
Dr. Deak, has spent more than 30 years as an educator and psychologist, helping children develop into confident and competent adults. She also has worked with adults, parents and teachers in their roles as guides or ‘neurosculptors’ of children, noting that “every interaction a child has, during the course of a day, influences the adult that child will become.”
