At 7:00 p.m. Saturday May 16, the handbell choirs of First United Methodist Church present their Spring Ring XXIII Concert, “Handbell Expedition.”

Ever popular in the Chicago area, the ensembles appear each year in the West Towns Chorus Christmas Extravaganza at the Tivoli Theater, and in the Grainger ballroom of Symphony Centre for the Chicago Symphony’s Christmas Concert Series.

Repertoire for this concert ranges from the new Brazilian Sleigh Bells arranged by our very own Downers Grove composer Kurt Meier, to Stairway to Heaven, Ride the Chariot, Shine, Jesus, Shine, and, of course, the virtuosic original handbell work, Expedition by Joel Raney.

Ringing musicians show an extraordinary model of musical teamwork. Come see and hear the cogs of all these intricate wheels mesh with superbly-oiled fluency.

Tickets are $8 in advance; $10 at the door. Child care is provided.
