Free Flowers Bring Smiles At Downers Grove Metra Station

The Petal It Forward project was sponsored by FTD and Phillip's Flowers.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Commuters who were dreading the same monotonous train ride to and from work Wednesday wound up with a little something to brighten their day. As part of FTD's Petal It Forward project, local florists Phillip's Flowers gifted two bouquets of brightly colored flowers to hundreds of passengers at the Downers Grove and Lombard Metra stations. The passengers were to keep a bouquet for themselves and pass the other one on to a stranger, family member, or sweetheart.

The Downers Grove-based FTD partnered with florists in all 50 states, Canada, and Washington D.C. to make the Petal It Forward project a success. A spokesperson for FTD, told Daily Herald that 20 volunteers took part in the event to pass out thousands of blooming bouquets for the occasion.

Many people on social media posted photos of themselves with their flowers and gave the second to grandparents, kids, friends, and people they had just met.
