Girls' Night Out Oct. 2 to Benefit Betty Jane Boyd Scholarship Fund

Girls’ Night Out is bringing women in the community together Oct. 2 for shopping and dining in downtown Downers Grove.

Boutiques and restaurants will host sales, massages, demonstrations, tastings and more for the fall event, according to Downtown Downers Grove.

Downtown Downers Grove has paired a good cause with Girls’ Night Out. The event will benefit the Betty Jane Boyd Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships for Women’s Empowerment through Programa Velasco.

Betty Jane Boyd was the longtime business owner of Consider It Done downtown until her passing in September 2012.

“The Betty Jane Boyd Scholarship Fund, through Programa Velasco, will provide educational training and business leadership programs for women in the Community Savings and Lending Program so that they too may have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of their families and community,” according to a news release.

Registration for Girls’ Night Out will be at the Downtown Management office on Curtiss Street from 5 to 7 p.m. Limited edition “swag bags,” filled with goodies from participating businesses, will be available at the registration desk.

After 7 p.m., Ballydoyle Irish Pub will serve appetizers, and Betty Jane Boyd’s family will be visiting. Authentic merchandise from the Women of El Salvador will be available for purchase, and attendees can learn more about the Betty Jane Scholarship Fund and Programa Velasco.
