Halloween In Downers Grove 2021: Trick-Or-Treating, Pumpkin Smash

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Halloween is right around the corner, which means Downers Grove's little ghosts and goblins are getting excited about all the spooky fun the village has to offer. Downers Grove has not designated trick-or-treat hours for Halloween 2021, which falls on a Sunday this year. The village recently shared some safety tips, along with information about a pumpkin smash that is planned for early November.
Trick-or-Treating in Downers Grove
Residents who plan to welcome trick-or-treaters are advised to keep their porch lights on. Those who do not plan to take part in trick-or-treating should leave their porch lights off and their front doors closed, village officials advise. Alternatively, residents can use a sign to indicate whether they will accept trick-or-treaters.

The Downers Grove Police Department recommends trick-or-treating during daylight. Children are advised to trick-or-treat in a group or with their parents. Reflective or light-colored clothing is recommended to help increase visibility.
Trick-or-treaters and motorists are advised to stay vigilant and use caution.

Pumpkin Smash 2021
If you're looking for a way to discard your pumpkin after Halloween, you can head to Downers Grove South High School, 1436 Norfolk St., Nov. 6, when SCARCE will host a pumpkin smash. The pumpkin smash will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., giving residents a chance to catapult their dwindling jack-o'-lanterns through the air.
