Hit-And-Run Crash Injures Pedestrian In Downers Grove: Cops

Police say the driver hit the man and then fled southbound on Fairview Ave.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Downers Grove Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that injured a pedestrian Tuesday morning. Police say the crash took place around 8:15 a.m. near the intersection of 39th St. and Fairview Ave.

According to police, a 54-year-old man was walking across the intersection when a pickup truck hit him. The truck then reportedly fled south on Fairview without stopping to see if the pedestrian was alright.

The victim was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was treated for injuries that were not deemed to be life-threatening.

The vehicle was described as a medium-sized black pickup truck with a white toolbox in the truck bed. Police say the driver was described as a bald white male in his 50s or 60s.

The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone with information on this incident to contact them at 630-434-5600.
