Hollywood Blockbusters Kick Off Busy Summer Movie Season

The lineup features a return to the big screen of several much-anticipated blockbusters, including films that unveil the next chapters of their stories. Among the most anticipated movies of the summer is “Jurassic World,” which debuts on Friday, June 12, and “Inside Out,” opening June 19, 2015.
“Jurassic World” is the fourth installment in the Steven Spielberg-produced Jurassic Park film series. Twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park, Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond. After 10 years of operation and visitor rates declining, a new attraction is created to re-spark visitor’s interest, which backfires horribly.

The Pixar/Disney-produced computer animated fantasy-comedy “Inside Out” is a movie set in the mind of a young girl whose five emotions – Joy, Anger, Disgust, Fear and Sadness – try to lead the girl through life.
The summer blockbuster schedule continues on Friday, June 26 with “Ted 2.” Directed by Seth MacFarlane and starring Mark Wahlberg, the movie features newlywed couple Ted and Tami-Lynn, who want to have a baby, but in order to qualify to be a parent, Ted will have to prove he’s a person in a court of law.

“Terminator: Genisys,” starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, opens on Wednesday, July 1. The year is 2029. John Connor, leader of the resistance, continues the war against the machines. At the Los Angeles offensive, John’s fears of the unknown future begin to emerge when TECOM spies reveal a new plot by SkyNet that will attack him from both fronts: past and future, and will ultimately change warfare forever. Also opening on July 1st is “Magic Mike XXL” featuring Channing Tatum, which begins three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game. He and the remaining Kings of Tampa hit the road to Myrtle Beach to put on one last blowout performance.
Another film expected to open July 10 with great fanfare is “Minions,” which finds Minions Stuart, Kevin and Bob recruited by Scarlet Overkill, a super-villian voiced by Sandra Bullock. Scarlet Overkill alongside her inventor husband Herb hatches a plot to take over the world.
Superhero film “Ant-Man,” starring Paul Rudd, debuts on Friday, July 17. Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats.
“Pixels” hits the big screen on Friday, July 24. As kids in the 1980s, Sam Brenner (Adam Sandler), Will Cooper (Kevin James) and friends saved the world thousands of times in the video arcades. Now, they’re going to have to do it for real, as intergalactic aliens discover video feeds of classic arcade games and misinterpret them as a declaration of war. They attack the Earth, using the video games as the models for their assaults. Cooper, who is now president, must call on his old-school arcade friends to save the world from destruction.
“Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation” premiers on Friday, July 31. The movie stars Tom Cruise, who reprises his role as IMF Agent Ethan Hunt in the action spy film, which is the fifth installment in the Mission Impossible series.
