Home Burglarized In Downers Grove, Wedding Rings And Cash Stolen

A burglar pried open a window of a home in the 7100 block of Blackburn and stole wedding rings, cash, and pearl jewelry.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Burglar(s) broke into a home in Downers Grove and stole wedding rings and other pieces of jewelry, according to a police report. The incident took place in the 7100 block of Blackburn Ave. sometime between 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Nov. 18.

The victims told police they came home and noticed the drawer to a small "keepsake" in the kitchen had been taken out. After asking each other about the drawer, the homeowners noticed that a window in the home was open. Police say the window had been pried open and that the frame was broken.

During an investigation, police discovered that the burglars ransacked other rooms in the home and removed and tried to pry open a safe in one of the upstairs bedrooms. The victims reported that jewelry was missing from the master bedroom, including wedding rings and a pearl and diamond necklace and earrings set.

The burglar(s) also removed several silver dollars that dated back to the 1800s from a smaller bedroom. $250 was stolen off of the kitchen counter. The total estimated loss is $1125.
