Homeowner Fights Off Intruder in Attempted Robbery Near Westmont: Police

The 19-year-old Chicago man is being held on a $100,000 bond for charges of attempted aggravated robbery and burglary.

Authorities arrested a 19-year-old Chicago man who is accused in an attempted aggravated robbery Friday night at a home in unincorporated Westmont.

Malik Jones is accused of entering a home on Park Street and fighting with the homeowner who police said he was attempting to rob, according to a DuPage County Sheriff’s Office press release. The homeowner was able to fight off Jones.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene and took Jones into custody.

Jones is being held at the DuPage County Jail on a $100,000 bond. He is charged with one county of attempted aggravated robbery, a class 2 felony, and one county of burglary, a class 2 felony.
