'I Used To Live Here,' Says Man Found In Downers Grove Home: PD

The resident told police he turned to find the man sitting on his baby's play mat.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Police say a man was "possibly having a mental issue" when he was found inside a home in Downers Grove. A resident in the 300 block of Lincoln Avenue reportedly found David Curtis, 30, of Chicago, sitting on his baby's playmat inside his home Saturday evening. When the resident asked Curtis who he was, Curtis reportedly said, "I used to live here."

The victim told police that he was mounting his television on the wall and turned to check on his baby when he spotted Curtis. Police say the homeowner convinced Curtis, who had taken his socks and shoes off at the door, to leave his home.

Police found Curtis shortly afterward and said he admitted to being under the influence of alcohol. He told police he had arranged to stay at a friend's house.

Just before 9 p.m., the homeowner on Lincoln Avenue alerted police that Curtis was trying to get back into his home. Curtis was not able to get inside, police say, and headed east toward Lester School.

When police arrived at the scene, they say Curtis seemed confused about trying to get into the house and that he did not appear to be well enough to be put under arrest. He was voluntarily transferred to Good Samaritan Hospital, later charged with criminal trespass to property and released on bond.
