Improvements Begin On Main Street Station In Downers Grove

The renovation of Main Street Station is set to begin Monday, Oct. 23.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Crews will begin working on a project to revamp the interior of the Main Street Metra Station in Downers Grove on Monday, Oct. 23. The project, which involves the addition of new tile flooring, is expected to last at least two months and will limit access to the station in some areas, according to the Village of Downers Grove website.

For the first two weeks of the project, the station's west room, which is the closest to Main Street, will be closed. As the renovation goes on, the village notes that the ticket window will be closed at some point. During that time, commuters will be able to buy a one-way ticket from conductors without paying an additional service charge. The village encourages passengers to buy weekend, monthly, and 10-day passes at Union Station or by using the Ventra app.

Patch will keep you updated as additional parts of the station are closed or restricted. You can also keep up with work on Main Street Station at the Village of Downers Grove website.
