Items Stolen From Buy Buy Baby, Car Burglarized In Downers Grove

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A man who said he was a new father stole several items from Buy Buy Baby and a car was burglarized, according to the most recent Downers Grove crime blotter.

Retail Theft Reported at Buy Buy Baby

Police were called to the Buy Buy Baby at 1556 Butterfield Rd. around 6:40 p.m. on March 6 for a report of a retail theft. An employee told police a man filled a cart with items and then ran out of the store without paying. The employee told police they asked what the man was doing and he responded, "My wife just had a baby. I don't have any money."

An officer later stopped the suspect vehicle in the 3800 block of Highland Avenue. When the officer approached the suspect vehicle, he. noticed there was a child's car seat, baby clothes and other merchandise inside. Police say the stolen merchandise was valued at $1249.70.

Luis Vegas Garcia was charged with retail theft in connection with the incident.

Wallet Stolen from Car in 4500 Block of Sherwood

A victim told police he left his wallet in the glove compartment of his car around 6:20 p.m. on March 10. When he returned to his car around 5 a.m. the next day, he noticed his wallet was missing.
