Jeep Valued At $70K Stolen From Downers Grove Dealership

DOWNERS GROVE, IL --- A Jeep valued at $70,000 was stolen from a dealership in Downers Grove where it had been left for maintenance. Police say the suspect or suspects smashed the window of Ziegler Automotive at 2311 Ogden Ave. sometime over the weekend to gain access to the building and steal the car.

The victim told police that they closed the dealership service area for the weekend around 7 p.m. Saturday. When they returned to the shop around 6:15 a.m. Monday, they noticed that someone had broken a pane of glass out of the door to the service area.

Once inside, the burglar(s) stole a black 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8 that had been brought in for maintenance on Nov. 6.

When the owner of the Jeep was interviewed by police, he told them he used an app to track his vehicle and that it was allegedly in Chicago near the 1800 block of S. Avers. Downers Grove police reportedly used this information to alert Chicago police, who recovered the Jeep.
